Kristin Welch (Kritty) is a contemporary artist whose work is about play—through play and exploration, there is a space that opens up in each of us.

Ceramics has become her predominant medium. She began woodfiring in Tres Piedras in May 2023, and prefers atmospheric woodfiring her work. The woodfire process gives her pieces a one-of-a-kind, artifact finish. She fires in a Carolina groundhog-style kiln in Tres Piedras and an Okagama in Santa Fe County, New Mexico.

Her work is tactile, and pieces are meant to give the viewer/participant the experience of enjoying the way they are displayed. They are simultaneously invited to put the pieces together and be a part of the creative process—an interplay between art and viewer.
